We're gearing up for this year's Competitions and we're looking for a little help! The success of our competitions depends heavily on all of our hard-working volunteers. And we could use a few extra hard-working hands this year!
By volunteering with us, you are helping to make these competitions even more special than in years past. No big corporation is behind this event - it's all on our shoulders.
We're looking for volunteers in the Rochester area and beyond who want to give back to the community, work alongside some amazing people, and have some fun! Whether you can donate 30 minutes of your time or a few hours each week, you can definitely make a big impact and help bring these competitions to life.
Will need to be at the warehouse every day of the two weeks preceding the competition. They will be responsible for ensuring the entry data is correctly put into our online database and will help with sorting, numbering, boxing, etc.
Will need to be able to work in Excel to produce the awards and pick and pack lists, address labels, award letters, etc. Will also need to have the week after the competition free so they can coordinate all the materials to get the award packages completed and mailed out to winners.
Responsible for phone outreach to share news about the competitions and encourage entry. CRM data management required for researching new contacts, updating outdated information and recording of call outcomes.
If you appreciate a crystal clean glass this role is for you! During our competitions we pour thousands and thousands of glasses. In between each pour the glasses must be thoroughly washed and dried for the next tasting flight.
Boxes and boxes and more boxes! As entries arrive they are organized and packed into mixed cases which then need to be opened during the competitions. As cases are opened entries must remain organized.
So you think you can uncork a bottle in record time? Well we have a lot of bottles that need to be opened after the cases are unpacked. It may sound like a simple task but it requires a talented team with steady focus.
Each entry must be precisely poured into our fine tasting glasses for the judging -- many times over, while maintaining each unique secret identifier. Finally the flights need to be transported to the judging tables and presented to each judge in a specific order.
Funny thing, the entries do not transport themselves! All of our entries are received, identified, logged and re-cased in our warehouse. Then for the competitions all entries are loaded into trucks, transported to our event venue and unloaded for judging.
If you fancy yourself as more of a jack-of-all-trades we need you too! There are countless things that come up where we need people to fill in. Anything from planning, to maintenance, to event fill-ins. If you want to help but not sure where -- talk to us and we will find a place for you!
